VILLAGE
On Merseyside, near Maghull.

Name derives from Norse "Sef" meaning rushes

During Anglo Saxon times, the area of the Wirral and banks of the Mersey were often occupied by Norsemen displaced from Ireland, Dublin being a Viking settlement.

Sefton Hall was a Royalist stronghold during the Civil War and site of a skirmish in which the Roundheads were defeated.

No recent history.
