Singleton is in West Susex, 5 miles North of Chichester.
Name derives from Saxon for Burnt Clearing.
Remains of Roman encampment nearby.
Mentioned in Domesday Book.
Anglican Parish Church of St Mary has a Saxon nave and square tower.
The Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, used to come to the station here in the royal train, en route to Goodwood races.
Weald and Downland Living Museum in the village is used for TV series The Repair Shop"
