CASTLETON was sold to South Africa on 5th June 1959 and re-named ‘JOHANNESBURG’. She was eventually sold to SA Metal Co. in September 1988 and broken up at Table Bay in 1989.

VILLAGE

In the Hope Valley, Derbyshire. Home to many caverns in the limestone and the Blue John decorative stone.

Named as "Pechesers" in the Domesday Book, near to Peverel Castle.

Long history of lead mining from pre-Roman times to the 19th century.

Economy now based on tourism and production of cement from limestone quarry.

The area has been continuously occupied since pre-historic times but, apart form mining, there is no significant recorded history
