VILLAGE
Two Bevingtons were found. The name derives from "Shrunken Village".
One is a mediaeval settlement in Warwickshire, where the population was displaced duing 16th century by landowners seeking more ground for grazing sheep for the burgeoning wool trade.
The other is in Gloucestershire on the banks of the river Severn, near Stroud, with history dating back to the Roman occupation of Britain. There have been significant archaeological finds in the area.
