RENNINGTON was built by Richards Ironwoks at Lowestoft. Yard Number 420
She spent most of her early life in Reserve at Hythe (1958) and Gibraltar (1960) before being sold to Argentina (1968) and re-named ‘ARA CHACO’ (see colour photo below with pennant number 5).
One of ARA CHACO's Commanding Officers was Captain Juan Frias of the Armada Republica Argentina.
Captain Frias has been a member of TCA for several years and is a regular contributor to TON Talk
As the vessel was never commissioned & crewed by RN personnel, we have little information on the ship's early life prior to going into reserve. Please advise TCA webmaster if you can provide any detail.
