Replaced by HMS DROXFORD in 1969 and for disposal at Greenock. Sold 7 April 1971 to Pounds of Portsmouth. At Queenborough in the early 1970s. Sold in 1981 by Turbocraft to Greek buyers.
Before joining the RN, I had three years in Clyde Division RNR where one of our tenders was KINGSFORD. I recall being the only other officer (as a Mid RNR) with the RN Staff Officer for the passage from Liverpool to Greenock - we hit some bad weather in the North Channel and managed to find our way to the then very derelict berths at Cairnryan - where we walked for ages to find a pub for a few glasses of reviving beer.
